Abstract :
The authors describe a direct synthesizer that combines direct analog and digital techniques to produce a low-noise fast switching X-band source. Direct digital frequency synthesis performance in terms of spurious content is described. The RF and microwave frequency synthesizers are described, and the switching-speed and phase-noise performance are characterized.<>
