Abstract
The problem of fast channel estimation and fast start-up equalization in synchronous digital communication systems is revisited from the viewpoint of optimization for training sequences. Cyclic training sequences with desirable correlation properties having flat discrete power spectra are often used for this purpose. The equivalent transfer function and its frequency response of the adaptive least-mean-square (LMS) channel estimator for several special sequences are derived
