Abstract :
Algorithms for wide area control of an excitation system are presented. The algorithms use a switched control method with speed feedback from a remote generator, and also account for communication delays. They can also reduce the negative effects of time delay. The wide area controller includes a lead-lag network. Simulation results show that the algorithms can improve the dynamic stability of an interconnected power system.
