Abstract
Matched median filters (MMF) for pulse compression applications using binary phased codes are introduced using 13-element Barker code as an example. It is shown that when the input signal is not exposed to Doppler shift, MMF yields an ideal compressed waveform, consisting of a single pulse with no time sidelobes, which is impossible to achieve using linear matched filters (LMFs). The case of non-zero Doppler shift is addressed, and a method to prevent sidelobes from appearing is presented
