Abstract :
A algorithm has been raise up in this paper popular high-performance segment-based proxy caching algorithm. it is based on the existing algorithm, such as prefix caching. It divides the video into several segments with the popularity of them and re-divides the object after a cycle. It also select the expelled segments by expelled formula and keeps the prefix as more as possible to reduce the start-up delay. This paper also shown the simulation of the visit process of VOD system, and compare the byte hit rate, the start-up delay and the cached segments ratio to measure the effectivity of the algorithm. The result of the simulations shown that popular high-performance segment-based algorithm is better in byte hit rate, meanwhile it also keeps a lower rate of the start-up rate, and has higher cached segments ratio.
