Abstract
Plant simulation is one of hot research fields in computer graphics. But the choice of model parameters is related to the simulation results directly. The paper proposed a new method that used L-system and illumination model to establish plant simulation model. And using genetic algorithms to optimize parameters, and obtain a high fitness parameters group. Experiments results indicated that group simulation model established by parameters which was optimized by GA made full use of the plant phototropism and the interaction between plants, and it can avoid cross and overcast between trees and show up the space character of tree growing preferably. Results show that plants had a better growth profile, and made a true representation of the forest growth.
