Abstract :
In this paper, a new cost-effective vision system is proposed to measure initial launch conditions of a flying ball for virtual sports. The proposed system can capture high-speed motion images of a flying ball with multi-exposure cameras instead of high-cost, high-tech equipment. In addition, it can effectively measure all initial launch conditions, including launch angle as well as launch speed, with two multi-exposure images of a flying ball regardless of launch conditions. The performance of the proposed system for virtual sports is demonstrated with real experimental results under various launch conditions.
