  • Abstract
    In this paper we investigate the variations of the band gap width (BGW) of a ternary 1D photonic crystal (PhC) with respect to refractive index and thickness of layers. By comparing the BGW variations with respect to changes in refractive indices and thicknesses of layers, we observed that it can be increased or decreased the BGW by applying materials with appropriate refractive indices and thicknesses, and use the suitable BGW in designing PhC devices.
