Abstract :
Intra prediction applied in H.264/AVC improves compression efficiency greatly. But the full search algorithm is computationally expensive and there exist conflicts with some real time applications. In order to promote encoding speed, this paper proposed a fast algorithm based on actual predictive conditions of the 4times4 blocks. The simulation result shows that the proposed algorithm can save about 20% of encoder time while keeping similar PSNR as the full search algorithm.
