Abstract
This paper discusses noise rejection and PD source identification in HVDC systems. The approach resorts to separation of PD sources first. Separation aiming at grouping the data according to their pulse shape is carried out exploiting the features of the recorded pulses. Identification is achieved through statistical analysis of PD pulse inter-times and magnitudes. In particular, measurement statistics are compared using a fuzzy inference system with those recorded in a reference database, obtained through lab testing.
