Abstract
This paper describes the impact on the throughput of a WLAN station based on 802.11 according to separation distance between Access Point (APs) in the 2.4 GHz frequency band. Recently, many WLAN APs were set up in space where many people stay such as a mall and subway stations due to popularization of smart-phones which have Wi-Fi Network. Therefore, the potential interference between WLAN APs is highly expected in space that many WLAN APs are operated. In this regard, the throughput degradation of WLAN station according to the density of WLANs that is related with variable separation distance between APs was measured. As a result, the separation distance of 3m for 11b and separation distance of 4m for 11g and 11n were obtained in order to guarantee stable throughput of WLAN station. The suggested separation distance will be helpful in case of the practical installation of WLAN AP.
