Abstract :
From the fingerprint images captured by the sensor, we can see some sweat pores when we press the finger on it a little hardly, and in some case some streaklines may adhere to the neighbor ridge. Fingerprint preprocessing is the precondition of fingerprint identification. The effect of the fingerprint preprocessing affects the result of fingerprint identification. So, this paper proposes orthogonal ridge slimming method added to the preprocess. Orthogonal ridge slimming method can strengthen the contrast ration between ridgelines and streaklines. As a result, some adhered streaklines will be seperated, and then the neighbor ridgelines adhension will be prevented to some extent.
