Abstract
A method for the handling of numerically inconsistent initial conditions in networks with ideal switches is described. The use of the backward Euler formula is discussed, and emphasis is placed on easy understanding and easy programming applications. It is shown that in switched networks nonlinear storage elements must be defined by charges and fluxes; if not used, incorrect results are obtained for any step size. The methods have application in situations where initial conditions are consistent
