Abstract :
Electric vector potential formulations are very convenient for 3D-problems. For transients, the weak formulation directly obtained from the Maxwell´s equations provides a non-symmetric coupled system, leading to huge memory storage, an ill-conditioned matrix and subsequently a longer resolution. It is argued that Galilean invariance of the stationary condition derived from the magnetodynamic functional provides a deep justification for a symmetric system. Preliminary computations are given.
