  • Abstract
The need of electrical power supply of metropolitan areas is increasing and will reach high concentration in city centers. Experiences made world-wide over the last 30 years of the needs of power supply in growing cities and its centers show that high capacity transmission systems are needed to fulfill these requirements. High voltage systems of up to 500 kV and high current ratings up to 4000 A will be needed to bring the high power into the centers of large cities. Bulk power systems are the most cost effective solutions. With network calculation and system analysis and the study of system transients and dynamics the structure of the electrical supply network needs to be investigated and solutions to be found which offer the most advantages to the user of the net. Net studies are the first step to improve the network
