Abstract
Deductive database systems combine the inferencing capabilities of logic programming with the secondary storage capabilities of databases in a single system. BERMUDA is such a system. It interfaces C-Prolog to the Britton-Lee intelligent database machine (IDM). The author explores several architectural issues which influence the design of deductive database systems by presenting the solutions adopted in BERMUDA. He suggests that integrated hospital information systems are a natural environment in which to port BERMUDA
