Abstract
Based upon the MC-TSCOPF (multi-contingency transient stability constrained OPF) program, in this paper, an optimal power flow based method for power system transient stability preventive control is presented. Since generation rescheduling is based upon the optimal result of MC-TSCOPF, this method always maintains economy while rescheduling generation to improve security. It possesses the merit that security and economy are considered in the same time. In this paper, mathematical formulation and solution algorithm of MC-TSCOPF are illustrated in detail. Flow chart of the proposed transient stability preventive control approach is also summarized. Finally, numerical results on a 30-generator testing power system confirm the effectiveness of this method
