Abstract :
Satellite images are used in many applications such as geosciences studies, astronomy and geographical information systems. One of the most important quality factors in images comes from its brightness. Contrast enhancement is widely employed to achieve the brightness. Generally, various histogram equalization approaches are used to improve the images, but they may degrade the overall quality of the image by exhibiting saturation artifacts. An efficient approach to enhance the contrast of the image and visibility of local details better is the method of using discrete wavelet transform and adaptive transformation. This method of contrast enhancement provides better visual perception and color reproduction. In this paper, the performance evaluation is determined.
