Abstract :
An experimental multihop packet radio network, SOFTNET, is described. The concept of soft protocols for experimental packet-switched networks is introduced. Using this scheme, network nodes can be easily reprogrammed to provide new user services without interrupting normal operation. The SOFTNET network programming language is described. The hardware and software implementation of the network is outlined
