Abstract
If the solar eclipse of August 11, 1999 was so widely covered in the media it is because it was the last of the century, but if it kept the attention of the scientists it is for its particularly interesting path. This subauroral path was propitious to created numerous phenomenons. The backscatter sounder STUDIO was ideally located to make observations, since it was nearly the middle of the entire eclipse path. The observations made permitted one to follow the eclipse effects on the entire path of about 12000 km. The recorded observances showed the numerous phenomena produced by the eclipse. The preliminaries results are shown, but several months of work are necessary to interpret all the measurements
