Abstract :
Induction motor operated with high voltage source generally generates high current at starting mode and has a long transient time after start. This large and sustaining starting current causes end windings of stator to have excessive electromagnetic force on them. This force is the source of vibration and has a negative and serious influence on the insulation of end windings. Therefore design of end winding part which has appropriate support system is needed. In this paper, we analyze the distribution of electromagnetic force on the end windings by Biot-Savart law and 3D finite element method (FEM), and compare two simulation methods.
