Abstract :
A preliminary investigation of image-reconstruction algorithm and scanning angular-range impact on μcalc imaging in digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) is presented. The total-variation (TV) minimization and expectation-maximization (EM) algorithms are compared on synthetic data derived from a breast phantom. These algorithms are compared for 11-view data sets covering 30°, 60°, and 90°. For images resulting from truncating the iteration number at 10, it appears that TV-minimization for the 30° scan yields the highest contrast for μcalc imaging.
