Abstract :
The authors describe the use of a switched-current concept in realizing a winner-take-all circuit for artificial neural networks. Unlike other conventional winner-take-all networks the new approach displays no inhibition between neurons but rather allows the neurons to compete among themselves. Equations governing the operation as well as its limitations are presented and verified through simulations. Control logic is required making this circuit fully compatible with the mixed analog/digital integrated technology
