  • Abstract
Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is a data driven processing algorithm, which applies no predetermined filter. It is able to perfectly analyze the nonlinear and nonstationary signals. In EMD decomposition processing, the mean envelopes is directly subtracted from the signals. This processing may bring a problem that the trend of the signal change is changed in different parts. In this work, we proposed a new method Absolute value Empirical Mode Decomposition (A-EMD) to change this criterion and solve the problem. The A-EMD approach can detect a new set of Intrinsic Mode Functions, which clearly present the location of the wave peaks and can quickly detect the jump points for the jump signals.
