Abstract
Grid computing has shown a substantial change in last decade. However, it is still hard to adopt the grid for bioinformatics analyses because the advancements are mainly focused on how to use grid resources efficiently. Therefore, users need to understand the grid technologies deeply to match resource requirements of each analysis. In this research, we made a grid based analysis environment for sequence alignment. To operate the environment, we integrate Semantic Application Management System (SAMS) to it. SAMS is application based grid job management system between user and grid middleware. It analyzes application information to allocate appropriate resources and manage job processes instead of user. The application information is managed in application ontology which is designed to store the application requirements which are needed for the grid operation. We show how information of the alignment programs are added to the application ontology and how the information can be interpreted for grid job management based on the analysis environment.
