  • Abstract
    End-to-end QoS is a challenge for future Internet. A per flow resource reservation can be carried out among heterogeneous domains on the communication path using signaling protocols. When one or both communicating terminals are mobile there is additional complexity. Signaling delays and resource lacking on future paths can dramatically impact user experience. In this paper, a rational future path selection procedure for advance resource reservation is presented. It is composed by future path prediction based on semi-Markov chains and by a selection criterion embedded in a binary linear programming formulation that takes into account handoff blocking probability of paths and estimated signaling delays. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach by simulation.
