Abstract
Large-area (>900-cm2) single-junction a-Si:H-based modules have been fabricated with an aperture area conversion efficiency of 100%. Triple-junction a-SiC:H/a-Si:H/a-SiGe:H modules with an efficiency of 9% have also been demonstrated. The improved large-area performance can be attributed to developments in several areas: (1) the scale-tip of a high-reflectivity ITO/Ag rear contact, (2) an improved laser patterning method that permits a 98% active area, (3) an improved large-area diagnostic and defect repair method, and (4) an optimized module design
