Abstract :
The CEPT Sub Working Group (SWG) RES4 is currently designing a pan-European radio paging system. The working name for the system is ERMES (European Radio Message System). The introduction of the system is scheduled to take place in the beginning of 1992. The task of the RSS SWG is to evaluate the technical and economic aspects of alternative radio sub system solutions, and report with recommendations to RES4. The code history, format, and traffic capacity of the existing CCIR radio paging code are described. The minimum requirements of the ERMES system are then addressed
