Abstract :
Based on the analysis of the control mechanism as well as the evaluation upon the control effect of power system stabilizers (PSS) and HVDC damping modulation, in specific to the AC/DC hybrid grid with multi-HVDC inverters electrically adjacent in the same AC system, the coordinated control strategy between PSS and HVDC damping modulation for the damping of inter-area power swings is put forward. Taking the typical large-scale AC/DC hybrid grid in China-China Southern Power Grid (CSPG) in the year of 2005 as the prototype, aiming at the suppression of the weak-damped inter-area oscillatory modes in the grid, the layered parameter optimization for PSS and HVDC damping controllers in CSPG are implemented using the nonlinear constrained Quasi-Newton algorithm under the direction of the suggested control strategy. Simulation tests verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy
