Abstract :
Renewable energy sources have been the backbone of our energy system during most of human history. It is increasingly becoming accepted that renewable energy has a decisive place in the future energy system and that the “future” may not be very far away, considering not just issues of their uneven distribution over the earth but also their greenhouse gas emissions and the environmental issues. Kerala State electric power scenario and pollutants emission from fossil fuel based plants has investigated in this paper. Reduction of this emission by hydro, solar and other renewable energy sourced power plants was carried out. The analysis shows that the states environmental power generation can be boosted up with the addition of the proposed solar projects. And can be fully solved in future especially by rooftop solar plants.
