  • Abstract
This paper advises on the duplexing schemes and multiple access schemes prevalent across Iraq and countries with similar circumstances. Duplexing is the data exchange in both uplink and downlink directions for any connection, while multiple access is the sharing communication channel between many users by using different ways without causing interferences to each other. This paper studies these two parameters since both of them are methods used to facilitate sharing a communications media (channel sharing). The novelty in this paper is that it looks into the situation currently in Iraq and countries with similar circumstances as a reference on how these two techniques are used and then chooses the most suitable duplexing and efficient multiple access method with regards to new technologies in the world that can guarantee a better efficient use of spectrum. Currently the wire communications and fiber optics infrastructure inside Iraq are badly damaged since 2003, and because of the current situation in Iraq there has been no service guarantee in using fiber connection despite all the efforts of the Iraqi Ministry of Communications (MoC). The underlying idea for this paper is to look at the challenges facing Iraq and countries with similar circumstances on selecting the right approach for a suitable multiple access scheme and duplexing scheme with respect to the currently technology and infrastructure currently existing in these countries. This is considered a very important issue for the future of investments in the Information Technology Communication (ITC) sector in these countries.
