Abstract :
This paper investigates a method to extract maximum mechanical power that can be generated from a wind turbine at a particular wind speed and feeding the generated power to the grid. The generator used is a Permanent magnet synchronous generator which is a variable speed generator. The pitch angle control to enable protection of the Wind Energy Conversion System from mechanical damages is also presented. The simulation of the integration of the system to the Grid and Maximum Power Point Tracking is performed using MATLAB/SIMULINK software and results are successfully presented.
