Abstract
This research investigates the relationship between Process Quality Index (PQI) and software quality, especially the reason why a high PQI occasionally leads to unexpected low software quality. PQI is one of the measures introduced by Personal Software Process (PSP) and is largely interrelated with software quality. However, outliers sometimes still exist. It is important to investigate the PQI, find out the reason which causes the existence of outliers, bring forward some approaches to identify these outliers and finally improve the reliability of PQI. Although it is difficult to find an approach which is able to distinguish all of the outliers, recognizing the most part of them is still valuable.
