Study on the spatio-temporal evolvement of regional economic pattern in Ningxia based on GIS

Based on GIS technique, this paper researched spatio-temporal evolvement of regional economic pattern in Ningxia province from 1995 to 2009. It is considered that the IDW method is better to express spatial structure of regional economy by comparing different methods of spatial interpolation. According to the result of interpolation, the regional economic pattern is shown as a map by dividing the region into different economic zone. It shows that in recent 15 years the regional economic development is not balanced in Ningxia province. The disparity between south and north is obvious. The level and speed of economic development is degressive from north to south, so the structure of "north, middle and south" is formed. The stimulative effect of towns and traffic lines for regional economic development is better in the north than in the south.
