Abstract :
Through analyzing the reaction kinetics of Al-Fe reaction and the growing factors of strengthening phase crystals, we find that reducing the initial size of Fe powder dumpling added into liquid Al melt and strengthening agitation to the Al-Fe mixed melt can accelerate reaction and refine strengthening phase grains and Al matrix crystals to gain the Al3Fe/Al composite with excellent overall performances. So we designed and optimized the Fe powder adding equipment and thermal agitation device for Al-Fe solid-liquid stirring casting process according to these analysis conclusions. Then we obtained the ideal aluminum in-situ composite, and applied the improved process in Fe2O3/Al solid-liquid stirring casting reaction, also achieved good results.
