  • Abstract
A multi-pole brushless DC motor and its control method is described. A time stepping finite element model for analyzing the operation of a multi-pole brushless DC motor is presented. The control loop is coupled into the system equations. The finite element mesh rotates according to the actual movement of the rotor. The model can take care of the nonsinusoidal quantities of the supplied voltages, the phase currents and the magnetic fields. The effect of the high-order harmonics in both time and space domains can all be taken into account
