Abstract :
In this paper simulation of various conventional control strategies and design of intelligent control based on fuzzy logic theory are presented. The design of linear or nonlinear control laws are based on linearization techniques applied to linearise the nonlinear power system model using Taylor series approximation and differential geometric approach and also design of the nonlinear control law by using sliding mode concepts are illustrated and observed their limitations. To overcome these limitations the intelligent controllers are proposed. The performance of all the controllers is evaluated on a typical WSCC three-machine nine-bus power system. The results are compared in a judicious way
