Abstract :
It is a hard work to classify the sediment of seafloor by ultrasonic. The main method is through the difference (velocity, dispersion, reflect factor and attenuation etc.) of the echo signals we received. After analyzing the attenuation of acoustics, we found it is a more efficient parameter for sediment classification. The echo signals mainly consists of the dispersion and reflection which from both the sediment surface and the interior of it. Start from the wave equation, the echo signal was analyzed and the strength function of echo signal was deduced, which approximately linearity and relevant to sound attenuation coefficient. The result same to be correct, it may be used to direct the seafloor sediment classification.
