Abstract :
The convergence properties of the Sato algorithm for a blind equalizer are analyzed when the channel input is discrete, especially M-ary pulse amplitude modulation (PAM). At first, it is shown that there exist local minima in the mean cost function of Sato algorithm for M-ary PAM input, and then the effect of increasing M on the size of the attractive region of each local minimum is analyzed
