Abstract
Ensuring safety and security in public spaces is a challenging yet necessary task. In recent days, many organizations and agencies deploy sensor-driven automated surveillance systems alongside security personnel to physically monitor an area. However, in most of the cases the surveillance systems and security personnel work in isolation, that is, the systems work according to some predefined constraints to monitor the area while the security personnel patrol the area and take decision based on their observation. In this paper, we propose an approach that leverages the benefit of both system and human based monitoring in a multi-camera surveillance setting. In particular, our approach assists a security personnel to trigger actions that will lead the system to control and readjust the camera settings on-the-fly in order to get a better view of a suspected person or an object in the hand-held device they carry while they are patrolling.
