Abstract :
Considers synchronous code-division multiple-access communications incorporating an outer error-control code for improved performance. The authors describe a reduced-complexity detector to be used as the inner decoder, and develop a simple method for computing reliability values for the bits produced by this inner decoder. The outer code is then decoded using an algorithm that incorporates this reliability information. Simulations have demonstrated the effectiveness of this algorithm
