Abstract :
A general framework is presented for analyzing and designing exactly reconstructing FIR (finite-impulse response) filter banks. This framework is based completely on the time-domain analysis of the FIR filter banks. The analysis leads to a general set of time-domain conditions which can be used to design a wide variety of exactly reconstructing filter banks. In addition, a complete design procedure is presented for the special case of systems with equal integer decimation rates in all bands. Design examples are also included
