Title :
Using Shannon entropy and Kolmogorov complexity to study the language and intelligence of ants
fDate :
27 Jun-1 Jul 1994
Abstract :
Ant food searching activity requires information transmission which is quantitatively known to the experimentalist. The first series of experiments is based on the Shannon concept of information, and the second on Kolmogorov´s concept of complexity. The first series makes it possible to estimate the rate of information transmission in ants, and the second series demonstrates ant ability for data compression
