Abstract
The paper presents a prospective resonant rectifier topology along with two new control techniques (viz. control schemes 1 and 2). The topology has the advantage of operating in the lagging power factor mode through out the entire range of input voltage and/or load variation, dispensing with the need of a device snubber. Use of a half-bridge requires only two active switches. The converter has been analyzed to find the nature of the input current waveform. A laboratory prototype has been fabricated and the proposed control schemes have been realized. Experimental waveforms show excellent improvement of the converter input current, particularly with control scheme 2
