Abstract :
A general power conversion relation which is valid for all four kinds of switching converters is derived. Relevant conclusions about the nature of the switching elements employed in the converters as well as their correct interconnection topologies are obtained. Power semiconductor switching devices and their basic function in switching power converters are discussed
