Abstract
Ray-space interpolation is one of the key technologies to utilize free viewpoint video (FVV). A novel ray-space interpolation method is proposed in the paper. Detection of ray directionality is based on a whole row of pixels to establish the search direction, then adaptive judgment is made as to whether the detection of ray directionality based on pixel by pixel analysis is needed and a reasonable directionality searching step is adopted. The proposed method not only decreases the computing complexity greatly, but also produces excellent virtual images that keep a relatively high definition of edges and textures of objects appearing in the scene.
