Abstract :
A LAN-based automatic bowling scoring system (BSNS) integrating multiple technologies including image recognition, a computer network and multimedia is introduced. A PC486/DX4-100 microcomputer with only one video frame grabber and a switch control unit (SCU) plugged in as an n-lane share image recognition and machine control workstation improved the BSNS further. Practical experience lasting for over a year in two bowling centers has proved that the new scoring system is cost-effective and has a higher function-to-price ratio and reliability, compared with foreign bowling scoring systems
