Abstract :
The rational use of electrical energy calls for use energy with less loss. That means controlling all factors in electrical networks that source losses. One of these is lagging reactive power. As we know the most of industrial load is inductive as well as nonlinear which causes the production of low power factor and harmonics respectively. Static capacitor is used to improve the power factor and reactor is for harmonics reducer. So there is need to get above equipment together to improve system. The working of such equipment is totally automatic because if capacitor or reactor are switched on continuously then the life as well as efficiency is reduces. So it is very needful for industry to maintain their power factor as well minimizing the harmonics.
