Abstract :
Mobile devices and services have the potential to introduce advancements in the area of learning and education. The essential concept of mobile learning is to have e-learning facility anywhere and anytime. This study focuses on the strengths of mobile learning supported by a case study of an Educational University. The main motive is to address the perspective of cognitive learning to reflect the utilization of effective applications of mobile learning. The approach used was based on structured open-ended and close-ended questionnaires for performing the Assessment Task. A trial of a designed m-learning application was performed at the Department of Software Engineering, Mehran UET and the task was executed both manually and by using m-learning application. The purpose of this work is to define mobile learning in terms of a flexible model that will enable developers, teachers and learners to identify learning practices and its effectiveness incorporated in particular learning environments. M-Learning identifies and provides an effective pedagogical and useful learning activity that can be supported by the wireless technologies. It further highlights the need, philosophy and practical use of m-learning for the Third-World Countries like Pakistan, offers mobility solutions that enhance business value or squeeze learning curve via mobile services like Profiled Notification and Just-in-Time Learning. The project trial performed, achieved quality experiences in a specific learning environment where the results proved satisfactory. The analysis of pre and post experience of performing "Assessment Task" using m-learning Application highlighted that there are significant opportunities for Mehran UET for deploying this project since it proved good enough to enhance in the following scenario\´s Student to Student, Student to Teacher and Teacher to Student activities. Future lines of this work would be in designing more m-learning based applications for diverse Enterprises (i.- - e. business, training, educational, etc.).
