Abstract :
With the advancement in technology, most of the data present today is online. To make the data accessible for non technical users and alleviate them from learning database query language, Natural Language Interface to Database (NLIDB) is created allowing interaction with computer in their native language. The system translates the Natural language query into database query language thus eliminating the need to learn query languages and make them act like a programmer. This paper discusses the various NLIDB system developed so far with their advantages and disadvantages, various architecture of NLIDB system, NLIDB systems for Indian languages and state-of -the-art-system.
